During the month of April, District 54 will be supporting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by fundraising money to make a difference for children and their families. St. Jude’s is dedicated to advancing cures and prevention for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Your donation supports research, treatments and other care for children and families in need.

How to participate: Money can be donated via cash, check or QR Code (the QR code is on the flyer going home today). You can also click on this link, MacArthur Gives Back! to donate.

Checks can be made out to MacArthur. Cash and checks can be placed in a sealed envelope and turned in to the main office. We ask that students do not go door to door asking for money.

In addition, MacArthur will be hosting our very own Penny War (even though the penny is becoming extinct) in order to raise money for this important cause. A flyer was sent home last week with your students (you may or may not have seen it) with the “rules” for our competition. In a nutshell, coins are positive points (a penny is worth 1 point, a quarter is worth 25). Dollar bills are negative points (one dollar is negative 100 points). Students should put coins in their container and bills in other grade level containers. The grade level with the most points is the winner.

The containers will be out during Celebrate Reading and Writing Night on Wednesday, so feel free to participate and sabotage other grade levels.

We look forward to having fun and raising a lot of money for a good cause.

Small change, Big impact!
