Dear MacArthur Families,
Our MacArthur staff is back in the building today and we are looking forward to connecting with you throughout this week during materials pick up and Virtual Back to School Night. The 2020-21 school year is going to be great and we cannot wait to get started!
It is a great idea to locate your child’s iPad or Chromebook and ensure it is charged and ready for the first day of school. Please also turn on the device to be sure it is in good working order. If you experience issues, please see below regarding a contact email for technology issues.
How Students Will Join Classes on the First Day
Below are brief tutorials of how students will sign in and be present in their classes on the first day of school. The videos highlight 3 key points – How to login/join, how to switch between classes, and how to navigate to tasks/activities. There is a video for Seesaw and a video for Google Classroom. The 2 videos combined take up a total of just under 7 minutes.
For Kindergarten-2nd Grade Families
Each day, please remember to open Seesaw and go to your child’s Homeroom class and navigate to activities for the day. This will allow you to obtain the necessary Zoom links for the day.
For 3rd-6th Grade Families
Please have your children check their Gmail accounts prior to the first day of school. They will have an email that provides all the necessary codes to join their Google Classrooms.
District 54 Family Virtual Learning Website
A D54 family Virtual Learning Website has been created that includes common tech tutorials including accessing Seesaw and Google Classroom.
Our Technology Department has been working to support students and staff as we all learn and work remotely. We understand that some families are experiencing slow speeds or problems with their providers, and we ask you to report that directly to your provider.
People experiencing problems with District 54 technology (Chromebooks and iPads for students) should email [email protected] so that we can troubleshoot the problem via phone or email. If the problem cannot be resolved, we have a technology drop-off program. To schedule an appointment to drop off a broken laptop, iPad or other device, you must first email [email protected]. Please do not stop by without an appointment. By making an appointment, we can abide by the rules of social distancing and ensure we have a replacement device ready for you when you arrive.
Drive-Thru Materials and Yearbook Pickups – Grades 1-6
We will distribute curriculum materials to students in Grades 1-6 during the week of August 17. Kindergarten curriculum materials pick-up will be scheduled during the week of August 24. Drive-thru stations will be set up in the front of the building, so it will not be necessary to leave your car. Feel free to stop by any time during the window assigned to your child’s grade-level. If you have children in multiple grade levels, please visit during each child’s individual time window. Our schedule will be as follows:
Monday, August 17
2:15-3:00 PM 3rd Grade (During your child’s pick up time, please bring their IPad and charger.
Students entering 3rd grade will receive a Chromebook.)
Tuesday, August 18
9:15-10:00 1st grade pick up
10:15-11:00 2nd grade pick up
11:15-12:00 4th grade pick up
1:00-1:45 5th grade pick up
2:00-2:45 6th grade pick up
In order to be safe and efficient, please be prepared to do the following when you arrive at your scheduled time:
Yearbooks from the 2019-2020 School Year
We are excited to coordinate 2019-2020 yearbook distribution with our material pick up! If you ordered a yearbook last year and have not picked it up, please let us know during your materials-pick up time and we will get it to you.
If you did not order a yearbook and would like one, we have a limited quantity available for purchase for $20. Purchases will be on a first come – first served basis and are to be picked up during MacArthur’s material pickup on August 17th or 18th.
Virtual Curriculum Night
Mark your calendar for our Virtual Curriculum Night on Wednesday, August 19 from 7:00-8:00pm. All sessions will be conducted in a virtual setting using Zoom. A document containing the links to each teacher’s Zoom meeting will be shared tomorrow and posted on our school website. The schedule will be:
*Each teacher will facilitate the same classroom session twice for parents who have more than one student at Mac.
School Supply Lists

Lunches and milk will be available for pick up for families enrolled in our school lunch program from 10:00-11:00 AM beginning on August 24. Pick up will take place at door #1. Please email Ms. Chairez ([email protected]) if you need an alternative pick up time.

Please note the deadline to purchase optional device insurance for your child(ren) is August 23.
