Principal’s Message
It’s been wonderful to see so many of our families over the last two days during parent-teacher conferences. We are grateful to the Mac staff for all of the preparation that went into the last two days including goal setting with students. We are also grateful to our PTA for hosting the Book Fair during conferences. Our students were so excited to pick up new reading material for the long weekend! And last, but certainly not least, we are grateful to our MacArthur families for your continued partnership and support. We know that ensuring the success of our students is a team effort.

We hope your family enjoys the long weekend together, remember there is no school on Monday.

Sincerely,
Sonia Esquivel and Rocio Hernandez

Fire Drill- October 12
On Tuesday, October 12 our students will participate in a fire drill in partnership with the Hoffman Estates Fire Department. This will be our second practice of the year and we know our students will do a great job reviewing what to do in case of a fire emergency.

Erin’s Law
Again, this year, we will be implementing a child sexual abuse prevention program in our schools as the result of the passage of Public Act 097-1147, also known as Erin’s Law. This law expanded upon previous legislation and required child sexual abuse prevention education for child beginning in pre-kindergarten and continuing through all grade levels. Our students will be participating in lessons in their classrooms in October and November. Please contact our Social Worker or Psychologist with any specific questions. Attached is a letter that provides additional details.

Shield Testing
Due to parent-teacher conferences, there has been no SHIELD testing at Mac this week. Drive up testing is available at the district office Tuesday-Friday from 7:30-4:30 PM. Shield testing at Mac will resume next week on Thursday.

Food Pantry
Our district provides many resources for families and one of those is a food pantry. The pantry is available for all MacArthur families. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, families are not able to visit the pantry in person, however we are more than happy to fill an order for your pick up at Muir! In order to access the pantry, fill out this Google Form. Once we receive your order, it will be packed up and ready for pickup at Muir. We will call you to coordinate a pick-up time.

Some of our new items include cereal, pasta, sauce, peanut butter, pop tarts, fruit snacks, ramen noodles, soups, protein bars, AND assorted toiletries! Keep up to date on when we have new food arriving by liking our Facebook Page. Click here to access the page. Order today before some of these amazing items are swept off the shelves!
