Dear MacArthur Families,

This has been a summer like no other, and we hope you have been busy making memories. At Mac, we have been busy preparing for the 2020-2021 school year! We want to assure you that, while our start to the school year will be virtual, we continue our commitment to creating a positive experience for our entire school community. Our goal is to continue to support each other during this season of change, engage students in meaningful experiences and remain connected as a community. Your partnership will be crucial to making this school year a success, and once again, we are grateful to embark on this journey with such an amazing school community. Below is important information regarding the 2020-2021 school year.

Office Hours and New Entrance Procedures

The MacArthur office is open from 8:00 AM-3:30 PM each day until August 17.  Beginning August 17 the office will be open from 7:30AM-4:00PM.  Our preference is for paperwork to be submitted electronically when possible to reduce contact with visitors.  Documents can be submitted via email to Ms. Roslewski: [email protected]  and Mrs. Ramos: [email protected]

If you drop off paperwork in person, please review the new procedures for visitors:

Mrs. Ramos and Ms. Roslewski will go through a COVID self-screener checklist when a visitor rings the bell. All visitors are required to wear a mask and will get their temperature checked BEFORE entering the school. MacArthur has a new secure entrance, and all visitors must go directly to the main office.

20-21 District Calendar – Updated

The 20-21 District Calendar was recently updated, and can be viewed here: 20-21 District Calendar.  Please note the first day of school for Grades 1-6 is August 24, and the first day of school for Kindergarten is August 31. All students will begin the school year virtually.  More information about accessing content will be share at our Virtual Back to School Night on August 19th.

20-21 Class Placement

Your child’s classroom placement will be posted on Parent Portal on Monday, August 10.  Parents can log in and view their child’s teacher. Welcome letters from staff will also be mailed home this week.

20-21 Registration

Mrs. Ramos and Ms. Roslewski have been contacting families with incomplete registrations for their child(ren). To submit residency documents, you can stop by the office, or email documents to [email protected]  and [email protected].  Please remember that complete residency is required to finalize your child’s enrollment.  The three required residency documents are a current lease, mortgage, or tax bill AND two current utility bills.  Please call the office if you have any questions at 847-357-6650.

Virtual Curriculum Night

Mark your calendar for our Virtual Curriculum Night on Wednesday, August 19 from 7:00-8:00pm.  All sessions will be conducted in a virtual setting using Zoom. A document containing the links to each teacher’s Zoom meeting will be shared on August 17 and posted on our school website.  The schedule will be:

  • 7:00-7:20         Welcome Back presentation by Mrs. Esquivel and Mrs. Patel
  • 7:20-7:40         Classroom session 1
  • 7:40-8:00         Classroom session 2*
