Principal Message – 5/28/2020

Aquí puede leer este mensaje en español

Dear MacArthur Community,

It is hard to believe that we are wrapping up the 2019-2020 school year today! As we have said before, this is not the way any of us anticipated ending the school year, but our students, staff and community have certainly made the best of it. We are so grateful for all of the ways you have supported us this school year. The MacArthur community is the heart of our school- you are what makes this a special place. It is a tradition of ours to have a small breakfast to thank everyone who volunteers at Mac throughout the school year. While the current circumstances prevent us from doing that this year, our staff has put together a video to thank you for all the ways you support us. Have a wonderful summer MacArthur! We look forward to being together again soon!

Sincerely,

Sonia Esquivel and Lisa Garza

6th Grade Virtual Clap Out

Another tradition at MacArthur is the 6th grade clap-out at the end of the school year. The 6th grade team did an amazing job making this a virtual experience for our sixth graders. You can watch it here.

PTA 6th Grade Gift

The MacArthur PTA has graciously provided a gift for all our sixth graders. You can drive-thru the MacArthur parking lot to pick up your child’s gift on Friday May 29. We will use the following schedule:

108 Rutigliano at 1:30 PM, 109 Castaneda at 2:00 PM and 110 Ruffolo at 2:30 PM.

2nd Grade Student iPad Collection – UPDATED
We will no longer be collecting iPads from 2nd graders this week.  We hope this change will enable students to utilize the devices over the summer months.  The District will be scheduling a 2nd grade iPad collection / Chromebook exchange in early August.  Additional details regarding this will be communicated later in the summer.

Student Google Accounts – UPDATED
The District has decided to keep ALL current K-7th grade student accounts active so devices will be functional during the summer months.  With community libraries still closed, the devices can be utilized for students to continue reading over the summer.  We are asking parents to be diligent in monitoring student device usage to ensure they are being utilized for appropriate purposes.

Device Collection on Friday – UPDATED
We will still have our device collection drive-thru this Friday, May 29th from 9-11:30 am for all non-returning students to return iPads, Chromebooks, and chargers.  If you are the parent of a 2nd grade student, and you still want to turn in your child’s iPad on Friday instead of keeping it for the summer, you can utilize the drive-thru device drop-off between 9-11:30 am.  Your child will be issued a Chromebook in early August.

Student Materials Pick Up- LAST OPPORTUNITY
If you were not able to pick up your child’s materials last week, you can visit Mac on Friday, May 29 between 9-11:30am.  We will be in the school parking lot, so you can drive up to return materials to Mac and pick up your child’s supplies that were left in the classroom. After this time, any materials not picked up will be discarded.

Yearbook

If you would like to purchase a yearbook with cash or check you can do so during the drive-thru this Friday. Please drop off $20 in a marked envelope with your student’s name and classroom number at the MacArthur parking lot this Friday, May 29 between 9am-11:30am. You must have the EXACT AMOUNT IN A LABELED ENVELOPE.

Don’t remember if you already purchased a yearbook OR want to pay with Zelle? Email macyearbook60169@nullgmail.com to find out!

Report Cards will be available on the District 54 Parent Portal starting June 2.
