Updated Registration Info and Materials Pick-Up – 5/15/20

Dear MacArthur Community,

We hope you have had a great week and that you and your family are happy, healthy and safe. MacArthur Staff have been in the building this week packing up student belongings for our drive-thru pick up next week and, though the building does not feel the same without our Toros, it has been wonderful to see them and hear their voices (from a safe distance!). As we prepare for our drive-thru pick up next week, please make a sign with your child’s name and room number to display on your window as you pull up to our drive-thru area. This will help make our process more efficient and keep the line moving. We want to thank you for your flexibility and support in navigating the close of a school year during these unusual circumstances.

Yearbook update

It is with much disappointment that we share with you, the delivery of our yearbooks will be delayed until possibly mid-June.

Due to the COVID regulations, Jostens was forced to close their California production plant which affected their other locations that print and deliver yearbooks.

We will inform you when yearbooks have arrived and will be available for pick up.

UPDATED Registration for 20-21 School Year

Registration for the 2020-21 school year is underway for kindergarten through eighth grade.

New District 54 families

Click here to begin online registration. After processing your registration, your child’s new school will contact you to request additional information, such as the Student Transfer Form (ISBE form 33-78) for students transferring from another Illinois school; proof of immunizations (list of required immunizations by grade level), birth verification and proof of residence (see details at

Current D54 families

Log in in to the parent portal, and update your information for next year by June 1, 2020. You must hit the SUBMIT button after reviewing the information, even if you do not make any changes. If your children will not be attending District 54 schools next year, please contact your school office and let them know.

If you have previously created a portal account and cannot recall your username or password, you can reset them yourself from the parent portal website. If you have never created a portal account, please email to create one.

All families are required to prove that they live within District 54 boundaries every year.  If we were unable to verify your residency electronically, you will have the ability to upload your residency electronically through your portal. If you do not have a portal account, you can also email the required documents to

Materials Return Reminder

Beginning on May 19, each grade level has been assigned a time for drive-thru pick up and drop off materials.  We will adhere to all social distancing guidelines during these drive-thru times.  We thank you for your flexibility and understanding at this time- our number one priority has always been the safety of our students and community.  If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Materials to Return: Student Material Drop off and Pick Up (ALL FAMILIES REMAIN IN THE CAR)

  • Please return all district materials (with the exception of iPads/Chromebooks).  Such items include: library books, guided reading books, textbooks, end of the year teacher note, etc.
  • Please place all items into one trash bag and label it with your child’s first, last name and their classroom teacher’s name.
  • Please place the bag in the trunk of your car.
  • Parents will enter the parking lot.  A drive-thru lane will be marked by cones.
  • Pull up to a designated stop point.
  • Hold up a sign in car window of student’s name and teacher. (Please create before coming to school)
  • Pop trunks and stay in the car.
  • MacArthur staff will be placing the supply bag in your trunk.
  • MacArthur staff will be taking the bag out of the trunk that contains items being returned to school.
  • You will be directed to leave the parking lot, once trunk is closed and all clear.

Technology Drop Off

ONLY STUDENTS IN 2nd GRADE AND STUDENTS NOT RETURNING TO SD54 will return their devices this school year. Second grade families should drop off their Chromebooks, IPads, chargers, headphones and hot spots (if this applies) on May 29 between 9-11:30 AM in the MacArthur parking lot. A drop off lane will be marked off by cones.

Fourth Grade Students and Parents – Band and Orchestra Enrollment Information

As many of you know, students traditionally enroll in the District 54 Instrumental Music Program in the spring of fourth grade and begin lessons in fifth grade. Due to our unique circumstances in the spring of 2020, instrumental music enrollment will be held once school resumes in the fall. In the meantime, we encourage fourth grade students and their parents to visit the District 54 website ( ) to view information about band and orchestra enrollment so that they are prepared to choose an instrument and join the fun!

No V-Learning Dates

For the remainder of the school year, Mondays will be planning days for our staff and there will be no V-Learning for students! The last day of V-Learning for students is May 28.

Canceled PTA Events

Due to current circumstances, the following MAC PTA events are cancelled for the remainder of the school year…Hot Lunch, Hot Dog, Nachos, and Spring Party. Please indicate whether you would like your money refunded or turned into a PTA donation by filling out the form below. 

Support during School Closure
