Materials Pick Up and Drop Off

Aquí puede leer este mensaje en español

Dear MacArthur Community,

As we get closer to the end of the school year, we know this is not the way any of us expected this school year to end.  Nonetheless, we are so grateful for all of the ways the amazing MacArthur staff and our school community have worked together to make this experience a positive one for our Toros. We know one of the many things on our mind is a process for closing up our school for the summer.

We have been working closely with the district to create a plan to close the school year. We know that students still have belongings at school and school materials at home. Please review this email carefully- it includes important information for material pick-up and drop-off.

During the week of May 11, teachers will be given staggered times to pack up student belongings to return to families the following week.  Our staff will follow CDC and state guidelines for social distancing during this process.  In order to do this, we will be limiting the number of staff members in the building throughout the day, and utilizing safety precautions such as wearing gloves and masks.

During the week of May 18, we are asking families to attend your child’s designated time for a drive thru material drop-off and pick-up.

During your child’s drive-thru time, please return all district materials, with the exception of iPads/Chromebooks.  Materials to return include library books, guided reading books, and textbooks. Please place all items into one bag, label it with your child’s first and last name and classroom teacher, and place the bag in the trunk of your car.  A staff member will remove the returning items from your trunk and add any materials your child has left at school. Parents, students and family members will remain in their cars at all times.

In an effort to prioritize safety, we are not able to accommodate providing families with multiple children with one school visit.  We ask that you follow the scheduled dates and times for each child separately.  We appreciate your understanding and willingness to place our staff’s safety and health as a priority over convenience.  With these same priorities in mind, we will not be scheduling alternative dates for family pick up of student personal supplies.  We hope the two week notice of these dates, times, and procedures will help your family plan accordingly.

On your child’s grade level date, V-Learning will look different.  An enrichment activity will be pushed out to students for completion only.  This enrichment activity will replace your child’s typical schedule and assignments for that day.

Below are the guidelines and schedules for MacArthur

  • We ask that parents/guardians follow the flow of traffic through the parking lot using our drop-off lane for drop-off of school materials and pick-up of personal items. T
  • Parents and students will remain in their cars.
  • Once cars pull up to the school, please open your trunk. A staff member will place a bag with all of the child’s belongings into the trunk of the car and remove the bag of items containing any returning school materials.
  • Appropriate social distancing guidelines will be adhered to.
  • Please follow the assigned 30-minute time blocks below. If you have multiple students, please attend the time block for each separate grade level.
  • Any personal items not picked up will be discarded.

Please place the device in the trunk of your car.  When cars pull up to the front of MacArthur, a staff member will remove the device from the trunk.

Thank you for reading carefully and following all of the details above. If you have any questions at all, please let us know.
