Dear MacArthur Community,
Thank you to everyone who was able to join us yesterday for our indoor Halloween parade and to our volunteers for organizing such fun activities for our Toros. It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of the first trimester and report cards will be live on the parent portal on November 20. Please read on for additional important announcements including this month’s PTA newsletter. We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
We would like to thank you for your patience during our soft lockdown at dismissal time yesterday. We use soft lockdown drills when we need to take care of a medical situation. Dismissal is a very busy time and our Toros (and their families!) did such a great job being flexible and following our procedures for a safe dismissal!
This school year we are continuing our work around the principles of positive psychology. To help you continue embedding these principles at home as well our MacArthur Happiness Committee has put together a newsletter to give you some ideas about ways to embed each of the 5 Happiness Tactic into your everyday lives. This month our focus is on Gratitude! Please see the attached newsletter for some ideas about how you can use this tactic at home!
Picture Retakes- November 6
We will be doing picture retakes on November 6 from 9:00-10:30. In order to do a retake photo, students must bring in the original pictures in their envelope.
Please see the attached flyer for additional information regarding our Veterans Day celebration on November 11.
5 Essentials Survey
Once again, we are reaching out to our families and asking you to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey to provide us with your perspective and help guide our school improvement efforts. The parent survey will be available online through Feb. 14, 2020, at https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois.
Illinois Report Card
The Illinois State Board of Education annually releases school report cards that show how each school, each district and the state is performing on a wide range of educational goals. The 2019 report card information posted on the state’s website at illinoisreportcard.com and on the District 54 website at sd54.org/schoolreportcards.
The illinoisreportcard.com website contains results from the Illinois Assessment of Readiness, as well as information about student and teacher demographics, enrollment and financial information. The report card also includes results from the 5Essentials survey, which was given to students in grades 6 through 8, certified staff and parents last year.
