Principal Message 11/9/18
|Dear MacArthur Community,
We are so grateful for the Veterans that joined our Veteran’s Day celebration today; it was an honor to host you in our school. Thank you also to all the families that sent in photos and to the students for celebrating Veteran’s Day in such a kind way! Yesterday students at MacArthur began a 21 Day Challenge related to the Happiness Advantage and the Orange Frog. Be sure to ask your son/daughter about the challenge they have committed to for 21 days. You can find additional information about the 21 Day Challenge in the Orange Frog Family Reading Guide. We hope you have a fantastic weekend!

First Trimester Report Cards
The first trimester ends today, November 9, 2018. Everyone who has a parent portal account will be able to view his or her child’s report card online by November 21, 2018. All parents and guardians who have not previously created a portal account but have supplied District 54 with an email address should have received an email with a direct link to sign up for the portal. If you are unable to access the parent portal and require a paper copy of your student’s report card, please contact our office.
Junior High Presentation for Students
Through the month of November, Mrs. Houlihan, the assistant principal of Eisenhower Junior High School, will be visiting each feeder elementary school. Sixth grade students will get an overview of a typical day at the junior high school and they will have an opportunity to ask questions. Elective course selection sheets will go home on December 10, a parent night will be held on December 12. The elective course selection sheets are due to 6th grade teachers on December 14.
Schaumburg Parent University – November classes
Schaumburg Parent University (SPU) is designed to involve more parents in the life of the school, to strengthen family relationships, and to improve parenting skills that will ultimately result in improved student success academically, socially and emotionally. There are two evening programs scheduled for November. Please note that childcare is always available.
Mindful Meditation – November 14
As part of our ongoing focus on student wellness, we invite parents and their children to join us in learning how to use the power of something super simple – your breath – to improve concentration, reduce stress, improve quality of sleep and help you handle your response (both emotional and physical) to outside circumstances and situations. Please bring your own yoga mat or a towel to sit on during meditation. This event will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on November 14, 2018, at the District 54 Professional Learning Center, 522 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. Mindful Meditation Flyer
