MacArthur’s Planting Day

Posted Tuesday, May 15th, 2012 by Mrs. Mobley

MacArthur School is growing!
Yes, vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs.  Our planting day on May 14thwas a huge success….from seed to plant!  Every grade level participated in building the raised beds, filling in the dirt and planting the seeds and seedlings.  Our enthusiastic volunteers came from Zurich Insurance who also supported our project financially, the American Heart Association  who instituted the program and videotaped our adventure, and the PTA who helped with the plant sale and supervising.  On hand for our dedication ceremony was Mayor McLeod with village trustees, Mary Kay Prusnick from the school board and parents, staff and children.   In addition, Mr. Johnson will be working on a fence to protect our beautiful garden.  We have received a large donation from Schaumburg’s Auto Body Shop to pay for our fence materials.  Please sign up to care for our garden during one week during summer vacation!  We will be looking forward to Harvest Day in the fall!

Wait until we see our plants in the fall!

Posted Friday, January 20th, 2012 by Mrs. Muñoz

Dear MacArthur Community,

Due to the weather, our Science Fair is CANCELLED this evening. Parents can pick up their child’s project today in the gym after school or on Monday before or after school in Room 119.

STAR is not cancelled today.

All of the young scientists today impressed our judges with their projects and hard work. Thank you so much to Mrs. Brand and Mrs. Fawbush for their work on the science fair. It has enriched the lives of our students and inspires their curiosity and interest in science.

Also, please be sure to open this week’s MacNews. It includes an RSVP form for our upcoming Donuts with Dads and many other events.

Please stay safe on the roads.

Welcoming Veterans to Our School

Posted Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 by Mrs. Mobley

This year in honor of Veteran’s Day, the students and staff at MacArthur invited veterans to visit to our school in order to honor them and thank them for their dedication to our country.  Veterans came and had breakfast and attended a flag ceremony with our Boy Scouts.  Then, veterans toured the school and stopped in each classroom to receive cards and poems made by the students.  What a special day this was for our students!
